New York Running Groups
New York’s running community is one of the biggest and most diverse in the world. The New York City Marathon sets the tone, but it’s the neighborhood clubs and crews that keep the day-to-day scene alive across every borough and beyond.
Brooklyn alone has dozens of running groups. Prospect Park Track Club has been around for over 50 years with RRCA-certified coaching. The Brooklyn Rogues meet at the BAM steps for Saturday long runs and Sunday social loops of Prospect Park.
North Brooklyn Runners, Crown Heights Running Club, BedStuy Flyers, and South Brooklyn Run Club each serve their own neighborhoods with free weekly runs and strong community energy. Badass Lady Gang and Running Sistahs Social Club add options for women and women of color.
Manhattan’s scene is equally deep. New York Road Runners is the largest running organization in the country and the engine behind the NYC Marathon. The Dashing Whippets meet six days a week across Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Midnight Runners brings high-energy evening sessions for night owls. Run for Chinatown combines weekly Monday night runs with community awareness and fundraising for Asian and Pacific Islander communities.
Upstate, the running scene includes the Greater Rochester Track Club, the Utica Roadrunners, and dozens of local clubs scattered across the Hudson Valley, Capital Region, and Western New York. Buffalo, Syracuse, and Albany all have active community running groups with their own race calendars.
From Central Park and Prospect Park to the trails of Bear Mountain and the Finger Lakes, New York gives runners everything from urban streets to backcountry single track.
The clubs across this state reflect every pace, every neighborhood, and every reason someone laces up for a RunSesh.
