About This Club

North Brooklyn Runners is a free, no-membership running club based in Williamsburg, meeting at McCarren Park Track for something close to 20 runs a week. It covers a wide spread, from a beginner-paced weekly run up to a Local Competitive team with time standards, so it's built to hold people at very different points in their running rather than one specific type of runner.

  • Nearly 20 weekly runs
  • Beginner to competitive options
  • Google Group for schedules
  • Local Competitive team
  • Themed fun runs
  • Free runs
  • Varied workouts
  • Educational programming

Who It Suits

This suits beginners easing in, people training for a marathon, and social runners who want structure without pressure, since the paces on offer genuinely span from 11+ min/mile up to competitive standards. It's not set up for kids, strollers, or dogs, and highly competitive elites may find even the LC team's standards aren't aimed at that top end. It's also not oriented around walking, so if you need a walk-based group, this isn't built for that.

What a Run With Them Is Like

Runs range from easy 2-3 milers to long runs of 10-22 miles, plus dedicated track workouts and tempo sessions, mostly on road and track around McCarren Park. Pace groups span from beginner (11+ min/mile) through easy conversational paces to structured tempo work, and the Local Competitive team runs to age-graded or specific time standards, so the field genuinely splits by ability rather than staying as one pack.

Your First Run

Join the Google Group first, that's where the daily schedule actually lives since this club runs almost every day with different workouts. For a first visit, the Wednesday Night Beginner Run at McCarren Park is the one built for that, so you're not guessing whether you belong there.

You won't be the only newer runner in that group, that's specifically what it's for. If you're coming in with real racing ambitions, reach out to the LC team captains directly rather than just showing up to a workout.
