How It Works
Your answers become live filters over the race index: distance, road or trail, dates, and where you want to run. Where a race has published results, the matchmaker also reads its measured field size and finish-time spread, which is how "small and local" finds genuinely small fields instead of guessing from a name. Every match links straight to the race, no signup required.
Frequently Asked Questions
How Are the Matches Picked?
Your answers become filters (distance, surface, dates, location) over the same live race index the directory search uses. Where races have published results, the matcher also weighs measured facts like field size and the spread of finish times, so a "small and local" answer surfaces genuinely small measured fields. Matches are fit statements grounded in that data, never rankings.
Do I Have to Sign Up to See My Matches?
No. Your three matches appear immediately, with links to each race. The one optional offer afterward is having those matches emailed to you along with the Weekly RunSesh digest for your area.
Where Does the Race Data Come From?
Listings and published results come from RunSignup and are refreshed daily. Finish-time figures are aggregates of full real-world fields, walkers included, never estimates.
What if Nothing Matches?
When your exact answers turn up fewer than three races, the matcher widens the dates and then the search area to fill the list, and it tells you when it did. You can also start over and loosen an answer or two.
