Running in Illinois
Chicago running orbits the lake. The 18 mile Lakefront Trail and the Riverwalk downtown pull in clubs like Gold Coast Run Club, which meets near Lake Shore Drive, while Chicago Muslim Run Club runs out of the Loop where the river and skyline routes meet.
The 606, the elevated rail trail through Logan Square, Bucktown, and Humboldt Park, is literally the meeting point for Hot Girl Run Club Chi, and 606 Athletic Club starts nearby before finishing at bars like Gracie O'Malley's or Lottie's Pub in Bucktown.
Pilsen has its own cluster: Tortugas Run Club ends at Harrison Park, Venados Running Club finishes at Monochrome Brewing, and Friendsrunning Chicago meets there too. Winters bring real cold and wind off the lake, summers get hot and humid, so a lot of these groups run early morning or evening, and the flat paved paths along the water mean weather affects the run more than the terrain does.
