About This Club

Chingonas Run Chicago is a women-focused club based in Back of the Yards on the South Side, meeting up at Back of the Yards Coffeehouse. It's free to join, no membership required, and the whole point is that all paces get supported, not just the fast ones. If you're a woman runner on the South Side looking for a low-barrier way in, this is built for you.

  • Women-focused
  • Latinx/South Side affinity
  • Brand partnerships
  • Inclusive pacing
  • Community events
  • Marathon support

Who It Suits

This suits women runners, beginners, walkers, and anyone connected to the South Side and Back of the Yards community looking for a free, no-commitment way to run. It's explicitly not built for men-only setups or competitive racers chasing a fast training group, and it's not stroller or dog friendly, so leave those at home.

What a Run With Them Is Like

Runs cover either 2 miles or 9 miles, all on road and urban terrain, so no trails to worry about footing-wise. Walkers are explicitly welcome and all paces are supported, meaning nobody's getting left to figure it out alone. Meetups happen Saturday mornings and Tuesday evenings when they're on, though the schedule is intermittent so it's not a fixed weekly thing.

Your First Run

Head to Back of the Yards Coffeehouse at 1621 W 47th St, and check their Instagram beforehand since meetups are intermittent, not a set weekly calendar. If it's a shakeout, get there early. If it's tied to an event, expect to sign a waiver. On the being-slow-or-alone worry: this group is known specifically for supporting back-of-pack runners and walkers, so showing up at a walk pace isn't going to be a surprise to anyone here.
