Who It Suits
This suits beginners, walkers, and marathon trainees who want a road-based weekly run with a home base to return to. It's not set up for trail runners or ultra-distance training, and it's not stroller-friendly or dog-friendly, so if you're bringing a kid or a dog, this isn't the run for that day.

What a Run With Them Is Like
Runs are on Chicago roads, no trail sections. The club states all paces are welcome and walkers are included, so the pace isn't fixed to one speed. There's a Tuesday practice at 6:30PM called Heartbreaker, plus additional Thursday and Saturday sessions. Runs start and finish at the store itself.
Your First Run
Show up at the store at 2148 N Halsted St before the run start, Tuesdays at 6:30PM CT for the Heartbreaker practice, or check Thursday and Saturday for the other sessions. You can use the gear storage bins to drop your bag, phone, or jacket before heading out, and pick it up when you're back.
There's no membership or sign-up required to join a run, though it's worth following @heartbreak.chi on Instagram for updates and using the city page to RSVP if there's an event. Since all paces are welcome and walking is fine, showing up without knowing your exact pace isn't a problem here.

Common Questions About Heartbreak Hill Running Company
Do I need to sign up or pay before showing up?
No. It's free and there's no membership required. You can just show up, though following @heartbreak.chi on Instagram or using the city page RSVP helps for specific events.
Can I bring my dog?
No, this club is listed as not dog-friendly.
What if I want to walk instead of run the whole way?
Walkers are welcome. The pace is described as all paces welcome, so walking is built into how the group runs.
Is there somewhere to put my stuff during the run?
Yes, the store has gear storage bins you can use to leave your bag or extra layers while you run.
Are these trail runs?
No, terrain here is road only. If you're looking for trail or ultra-distance runs, this club isn't set up for that.
Where this comes from: Club details come from each club’s own channels (their site, Meetup, Strava and social posts) and are checked by hand. Group runs move, so confirm the meeting spot on the club’s latest post before you head out. Last updated April 2026.
