About This Club

Glacial Trail Runners is a trail running club based out of Lapham Peak State Forest in the Kettle Moraine area outside Milwaukee. They run year-round regardless of weather, with a mix of distances and speeds each week, which makes this a fit for trail runners who want a standing group rather than a race-training squad. Membership is a small annual Meetup fee, not a race team commitment.

Who It Suits

This suits trail runners in the Milwaukee area who want a low-cost, year-round group that doesn't stop for winter and doesn't sort people by pace. It's a poor match if you're chasing structured speedwork or you only want to run roads, the club's own notes point runners like that elsewhere. It's also not set up for strollers or dogs, so plan around that if those apply to you.

What a Run With Them Is Like

Sunday runs go off from the Evergreen Parking Lot at Lapham Peak at 9AM, with typical distances around 6.5 to 7 miles on trail, though the group also does other distances by request.

Pace is easy and described as all speeds welcome, so this isn't a group built around hitting splits. Bi-weekly Thursday runs happen around 6PM. Most running is on trails, including the Ice Age Trail and other state park terrain, with occasional road miles mixed in.

Your First Run

Head to the Evergreen Parking Lot at the Lapham Peak Unit in Delafield for a Sunday run and aim to be there by 9:05AM, if you're running late, post in the Meetup group so people know. You'll need a state park sticker for Lapham Peak, so check that before you go.

If the full distance feels like too much, you can turn around early and shorten the run yourself, nobody's tracking who does the full loop. Given the record says walkers and all skill levels are welcome, showing up as a slower runner or someone who takes walk breaks isn't going to be a problem here.
