About This Club

Black Men Run Milwaukee is the local chapter of the national Black Men Run movement, built around African American men using running, jogging, and walking as a health and wellness practice. It's free, no membership required, and meets weekly at Mitchell Park Domes. This is for men looking for that specific brotherhood and health focus, not a generic open-to-everyone jogging club.

  • Focus on African American men
  • Part of national BMR network
  • Running/jogging/walking inclusive
  • Welcoming community
  • All paces supported

Who It Suits

This suits African American men, from beginners through advanced runners, who want a consistent Saturday routine built specifically around that community. It also genuinely works for guys who want to walk rather than run, since that's stated as fully supported, not just tolerated.

It's not set up for stroller runners or dog owners, since neither is accommodated, and it's built around a specific identity-based membership, so it's not framed as a general open club for anyone in the neighborhood.

What a Run With Them Is Like

The group runs, jogs, and walks together, and the record is explicit that all paces are supported, so there isn't a single speed you need to hit to belong here. It's a weekly Saturday morning session starting from the Domes area, structured around showing up consistently rather than chasing a specific distance or pace target. Whether you run the whole way or walk it, you're doing the same session as everyone else that morning.

Your First Run

Show up Saturday at 9:00 AM to the North parking lot at 524 S 27th, right by Mitchell Park Domes. Before you go, it's worth requesting to join their Facebook group and following their Instagram, since that's where updates get posted, and you can email head captain Lafredrick Burns directly if you want details ahead of time.

There's no cost and no membership to sign up for first, you just arrive. Given that walkers and beginners are explicitly welcomed, showing up without much running background or fitness isn't something you need to worry about here.
