49er Running Club
Charlotte, North Carolina
Premier student running club for collegiate athletes and fitness enthusiasts at UNCC.
About This Club
49er Running Club is the co-ed collegiate running club at UNC Charlotte, based out of the Irwin Belk Track and Field Center. It's built to flex from casual fitness runs up to national-level competition, so it genuinely suits both a student who just wants to run regularly and one who wants to race seriously. The one hard requirement is that you're a UNC Charlotte student.
Highlights

Who It Suits
This is built for UNC Charlotte students, whether you're brand new to running and want a community around it, or you're a competitive athlete aiming at national meets. It's not a fit if you're not enrolled at UNC Charlotte, and advanced racers looking for a non-collegiate competitive scene won't find that here either. It's also not set up for walkers, stroller users, or dog owners.

What a Run With Them Is Like
Practices happen on weekdays and are held on track and paved terrain at the Irwin Belk Track and Field Center. Pace is described as customizable and open to all abilities, so what you actually do on a given day depends on where you're starting from and what you're working toward. This isn't a casual jog-and-chat setup on trails, it's structured around a track and field facility.
Your First Run
Since this is a UNC Charlotte student club, the first step is confirming you're a student and filling out the interest form before you show up. After that, check the practice calendar and head to either Hauser Alumni Pavilion or the track, depending on what's scheduled.
Because the club is described as customizable for all abilities and beginner-friendly, showing up without a race background isn't a barrier, the structure is meant to meet you where you are rather than assume a fixed pace group.
