About This Club

Charlotte Running Club is a citywide umbrella group that pulls together Charlotte's running community rather than running as one single pack. It's a USATF-certified non-profit, so the group runs are open and free, and membership ($25 a year, less for students and seniors) is only needed if you want the race and store discounts, not to show up and run.

It suits people who want a standing place to run in Charlotte and don't mind that it's organized through partner clubs and a shared calendar rather than one weekly meetup.

Who It Suits

This works well if you want a low-barrier, no-commitment way into Charlotte's running scene, or if you like the idea of race and store discounts down the line without needing to pay anything upfront to just run. It's built for group runners and people looking to connect into a wider community, not for someone who prefers running solo or is specifically chasing ultra trail training, since the terrain here is roads and greenways.

What a Run With Them Is Like

Runs happen on roads and greenways, based out of Little Sugar Creek Greenway, and pace is genuinely open, from walkers to faster runners. Because this is a citywide hub working with partner clubs, the specific distance and route on any given day depends on which run you show up to, so check the calendar or Strava for that day's plan. There's no single fixed course here, it's more a network of runs you can plug into.

Your First Run

You don't need to register or sign up in advance, you just show up to a listed group run. Check the calendar, Facebook, or Strava beforehand so you know which run and where exactly to meet, since the club coordinates multiple runs through partner clubs rather than one fixed weekly time.

If you have questions before you go, email run.charlotte@gmail.com and someone will point you in the right direction. Walkers and beginners are explicitly welcome, so showing up slower or newer isn't a barrier to joining in.
