Fort Worth's everyday running life is threaded along the Trinity Trails, the river-corridor network that connects downtown to Trinity Park, the Clear Fork greenway, and the Southside neighborhoods. Races here tend to feel like extensions of those same routes - familiar pavement and parkland that local runners have already put miles on.
When summer hits, the heat is real, and the race calendar reflects it: events lean into the season with names that wink at the weather rather than pretend it away. Fall brings the bulk of the year's action, and the city's running stores and social run culture in Tanglewood and around the river give the scene a sense of community that carries into race day.
By the numbers
The Fort Worth races that stand out on the numbers: the biggest field, and the longest unbroken run of editions.
How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Oct 8, 2026.
Across the 5 RunSignup half marathon editions with published results on RunSesh, walkers and charity entrants included, the median finish time was 2:19:54, the median winning time was 1:24:50, and the last finisher typically crossed around 3:24:44, with a median field size of 136 runners. The spread is wide, which means the field tends to be a broad mix of paces.
Fall is by far the busiest stretch, with 22 of the 43 races falling between September and November, and September alone is the single busiest month. If your training block points toward a spring race, be aware that spring is the quietest season - only 1 race runs March through May.
Ten half marathons are scheduled between June and August. Six of them fall on a single weekend in late July: CRC Hell's Half Acre Half Marathon & 5K, Red, White and Blue Half Marathon - Fort Worth, Run for Coffee Lovers 5K/10K/13.1 DALLAS FORT WORTH, Run for Donuts 5K/10K/13.1 DALLAS FORT WORTH, Heatwave Half Marathon - Fort Worth, and Summer Meltdown Half Marathon - Fort Worth.
If you are racing in the Texas summer heat, knowing what you are signing up for matters.
