Omaha running is largely a story of waterways and greenways: the Missouri riverfront, the Papillion Creek corridors, and a string of city lakes that let you string together miles without ever hitting a stoplight. The Old Market and the Elmwood Park neighborhood anchor the social side of things, with group runs spilling onto paths that connect rose gardens, university campuses, and the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge.
The weather here is famously unpredictable, but the wide concrete and asphalt paths along the Keystone Trail, the West Papio Trail, and the Lake Cunningham loop keep people outside through most of it. Races here tend to feel like natural extensions of where Omaha runners already train, which makes them easy to show up to without feeling like a tourist in your own city.
