Where Omaha Runs
The Omaha Riverfront Trail ties the Old Market to north downtown along the Missouri, and it is the kind of route that anchors group meetups near Heartland of America Park and the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge. Head west and the Keystone and West Papio Trails follow Papillion Creek for miles through business districts and open field, the kind of uninterrupted greenway that suits a longer training run.
Midtown has its own version in the Elmwood Trail, looping from Elmwood Park past the Rose Garden, through the University of Nebraska Omaha campus, and up into Memorial Park. Clubs here build their weeks around these same corridors and the neighborhoods next to them, meeting at spots like Aksarben Village, Kinkaider Brewing, Kros Strain Draft Works, and Scriptown Brewery, so the run and the drink after tend to happen within a few blocks of each other.
Weather can flip fast, but the major paved paths stay runnable through most of the year, which is why the lakeside loops at Zorinsky and Standing Bear stay in rotation well outside of summer.
How to Choose a Omaha Running Club
If you only have one weeknight, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday each give you four clubs to pick from, while Monday, Friday, and Sunday only have one option apiece, so build your week around whichever of those three sits open. Weekend runners have three clubs to choose from, mostly built around Saturday morning starts.
Money is barely a factor: only one club in Omaha charges any kind of fee, everything else is free to just turn up to. And if you want to get off the road, four clubs specifically mention trail terrain in their runs, so that is a short list worth checking against your night first.
