Running in Omaha, Nebraska
Omaha’s running community is stronger than most people outside Nebraska realize. Over 120 miles of paved trails, a committed club scene, and runners who don’t flinch at winter make this city a legitimately great place to train.
The Omaha Running Club has been active since the early 1970s with over 500 members, and they recently brought the Omaha Marathon back under local management. Scriptown Running Club meets every Thursday evening at Scriptown Brewing Company for a casual run followed by beer. Kinkaider Run Club gathers at Inner Rail Food Hall in Aksarben Village with a pick-your-own distance and pace format. GOATz (Greater Omaha Area Trail-Runnerz) takes runners off-road for anyone who wants dirt over concrete. Ladies of the Evening and Omaha Front Runners add more options for runners looking for groups that match their schedule or identity.
Omaha runners show up regardless of the forecast, and that consistency builds the kind of community you want to be part of.
