About the Sarcoma Stomp

The course winds through two residential neighborhoods in South Charlotte, moving over rolling hills rather than flat pavement. Volunteers and police officers are stationed along the way, so navigation is straightforward. The race benefits sarcoma research, and that purpose is visible throughout the morning, from the opening ceremony to the awards stage.

Packet pickup runs the week before at Christ Lutheran Church, with race-morning pickup available at the same location near the Ministry Center fountain. After the run, Legion Brewing anchors an outdoor afterparty with food trucks, music, and games on the church grounds.

Common Questions About the The Sarcoma Stomp

Will I finish last at the Sarcoma Stomp?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.11 Miles field finished slower than 31:44, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:01:09, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Sarcoma Stomp a good first 3.11 Miles?

A field of 237 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.11 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Sarcoma Stomp?

The 3.11 Miles winner ran 17:19 while the median finisher took 31:44. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.

Where can I train for the Sarcoma Stomp?

Join a local run club. Charlotte Running Club, Mad Miles Run Club, RunBots and others in Charlotte welcome runners of all paces, and a weekly group run is the most reliable way to hold a training block together.
