About the NOON Year's Eve 5K 2026

The course runs through McAlpine Creek Park on crushed gravel, looping out and back with views of the lake and the surrounding parkland. It starts and finishes in different spots, so the layout feels more like a point-to-point than a loop. The surface is firm enough to push for a fast time but softer than pavement.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at a local cidery, with race-morning pickup available at the park. Parking is right at the site, and the start and finish lines are on opposite sides of the bridge as you walk in. A deli provides post-race lunch at the finish.

Common Questions About the NOON Year's Eve 5K 2026

Will I finish last at the NOON Year's Eve 5K 2026?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 33:48, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:15:59, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the NOON Year's Eve 5K 2026 a good first 3.1 Miles?

A field of 451 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the NOON Year's Eve 5K 2026?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 17:56 while the median finisher took 33:48. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.

Where can I train for the NOON Year's Eve 5K 2026?

Join a local run club. Charlotte Running Club, Mad Miles Run Club, RunBots and others in Charlotte welcome runners of all paces, and a weekly group run is the most reliable way to hold a training block together.
