The course runs through Fernhill Park, a neighborhood park in northeast Portland with open grass and paved paths. The race is put on by a recovery-focused nonprofit, and the crowd reflects that: people who have a reason to be there beyond just the finish line. A kids' dash runs earlier in the morning, so families tend to show up together.
