Who It Suits
If you want structured variety, Monday through Sunday with trail, track, road, and long-run options is a legitimate weekly training schedule. The Sunday long run goes up to 18 miles, so it will suit runners in a marathon build as well as those just wanting a longer weekend effort. The Tuesday track session is on the faster end, so if speed work is not your thing right now, Monday, Thursday, or Sunday will feel more comfortable.

What a Run With Them Is Like
Depending on the day, you could be on trails in Forest Park, doing intervals on a track, or logging road miles through NW Portland. Distances range from 3 miles on the shorter end up to 18 miles on Sunday long runs, so there is real spread within the schedule.
Most runs run at roughly 5:00 to 7:30 min/km; Tuesday track workouts are faster, in the 3:45 to 5:00 min/km range. They say all paces are welcome, and Thursday and Monday evening runs wind down with post-run socializing at the Run Pub.
Your First Run
Show up to 2258 NW Raleigh St before your chosen run time, no registration or sign-up needed beforehand. On your first visit you will sign an e-waiver, so plan to arrive a couple of minutes early.
If you are nervous about pace, the Monday and Thursday runs cover 3 to 9 miles at a range of efforts and end at the Run Pub, which makes it easier to ease in socially without feeling like you are holding up a serious workout. You will not be the only person arriving alone.

Common Questions About Portland Running Club
Do I need to sign up or pay anything before showing up?
No. It is free and there is no signup. You just show up, sign an e-waiver on your first visit, and run.
What is the Sunday long run actually like - how far will I have to go?
The Sunday run ranges from 5 to 18 miles. They do not publish exactly how the group splits across that range, so check their social media or contact Portland Running Company before you show up if knowing your exact distance matters for that day.
Is Thursday really a social run, or is that just marketing?
They call it Thirsty Thursday and specifically list discounted drinks at the Run Pub as part of it. The run itself is 4 to 6 miles. It is genuinely oriented around the post-run hangout.
What happens to the routes in bad weather?
They adjust seasonally. The Fanno Creek Trail is used when conditions allow, and in winter and spring they switch to alternate neighborhood routes. They do not say they cancel for weather.
Can I bring my dog?
No, the club is not dog-friendly.
