About the Charlotte New Year's Day 5K 2027

The course starts on the UNC Charlotte campus, swings out onto the Toby Creek Greenway, and comes back to campus to finish. The greenway stretch keeps you off traffic and feels open, and the road sections through campus are straightforward. It runs on a New Year's morning, so the air tends to be cold and the crowd is still waking up.

Packet pickup runs the couple of days before at a local running store, with race-morning pickup available near the start. Parking is free in the campus deck, and the light rail drops you close to the start line if you want to skip the drive. The post-race party on campus has food, coffee, beer, and music.
