About the 3rd Belarusian Carolinas Trails Friends Run 1M & 5K

The course begins at the far end of Park Road Park, dropping down a fast chute onto the Sugar Creek Greenway, a paved trail away from traffic. The greenway is quiet and tree-lined, and the route crosses the creek several times on wide bridges before the chute brings you back uphill to the finish.

Parking and restrooms are on-site at the park. The start and finish area has water, coffee, and snacks, though this is a cupless race, so bring a reusable bottle. The race benefits a Belarusian-American initiative providing meals and shelter for Ukrainians in need.

Common Questions About the 3rd Belarusian Carolinas Trails Friends Run 1M & 5K

Will I finish last at the 3rd Belarusian Carolinas Trails Friends Run 1M & 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 38:19, and the last recorded finisher came in around 51:37, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the 3rd Belarusian Carolinas Trails Friends Run 1M & 5K a good first 5K?

It is a small race (19 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the 3rd Belarusian Carolinas Trails Friends Run 1M & 5K?

The 5K winner ran 24:30 while the median finisher took 38:19. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.

Join a local run club. Charlotte Running Club, Mad Miles Run Club, RunBots and others in Charlotte welcome runners of all paces, and a weekly group run is the most reliable way to hold a training block together.
