About the 3-2-1 Dash for Down Syndrome 5K & Fun Run
The 5K starts and finishes at a church, running mostly through neighborhood streets. The twist is intentional: after crossing the official finish line, runners continue to a second finish line, a short extra dash that represents the extra chromosome in Down syndrome. People with Down syndrome cheer runners through that final stretch. A fun run runs a separate, closed course in the parking lot.
Packet pickup runs the evening before at Charlotte Running Company, with race-morning pickup available at the church start line. After the race, there is a World Down Syndrome Day celebration with food, games, and bounce houses. Parking is available in the neighboring businesses at Ballantyne Professional Center.
