Tulsa running has a clear center of gravity: the River Parks trails along the Arkansas River, where paved paths and crushed-rock shoulders draw runners from sunrise to dusk, year-round. The Midland Valley Trail threads from downtown through Midtown and links into the riverfront system, so a long training run can move through several neighborhoods without touching a stoplight.
Turkey Mountain Urban Wilderness sits just across the river and offers a different world entirely - rolling dirt singletrack and rugged footing a few minutes from downtown. That contrast between flat riverfront pavement and genuine trail terrain inside the metro shapes what race day feels like here in a way that is specific to Tulsa.
