About the Golden Driller Marathon

The course runs on paved trails along the Arkansas River, staying flat through most of the route. Marathon runners get one real hill, but everything else is smooth and even. The riverpark setting keeps things open and scenic without any traffic to dodge. The course is Boston-qualifier certified, so the flat profile is by design, not accident.

Parking is right at the start and finish area, which sits close to downtown and a cluster of hotels. There is post-race food and beer at the finish.

Common Questions About the Golden Driller Marathon

Will I finish last at the Golden Driller Marathon?

Almost certainly not. Half the 13.1 Miles field finished slower than 2:21:35, and the last recorded finisher came in around 4:21:07, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Golden Driller Marathon a good first 13.1 Miles?

A field of 371 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 13.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Golden Driller Marathon?

The 13.1 Miles winner ran 1:15:16 while the median finisher took 2:21:35. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
