About the Go Short, Go Long, Go Very Long

All courses follow the paved Riverparks Trail system, which runs along the river and stays flat for most of its length. The shorter distances are essentially without elevation change. The half marathon adds one real hill, and the longest distance takes that same hill twice. It is the kind of terrain where you can settle into a rhythm early and hold it.

Common Questions About the Go Short, Go Long, Go Very Long

Will I finish last at the Go Short, Go Long, Go Very Long?

Almost certainly not. Half the 10K field finished slower than 1:10:23, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:55:17, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Go Short, Go Long, Go Very Long a good first 10K?

It is a small race (172 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 10K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Go Short, Go Long, Go Very Long?

The 10K winner ran 38:15 while the median finisher took 1:10:23. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
