About the 10th Annual WellnessWorks Sunrise 5K

The course runs at Jungle Island in Miami, starting at sunrise, so the early miles happen in low morning light. The route is open to all paces, and the surrounding venue, a wildlife and nature park, gives the whole thing an unusual backdrop for a road race.

The event area is at a secondary entrance to Amelia Earhart Park. After the run, the venue itself opens to participants, and there are food, refreshments, merchants, and community partners set up near the finish.

Common Questions About the 10th Annual WellnessWorks Sunrise 5K

Will I finish last at the 10th Annual WellnessWorks Sunrise 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 54:21, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:53:21, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the 10th Annual WellnessWorks Sunrise 5K a good first 5K?

A field of 615 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the 10th Annual WellnessWorks Sunrise 5K?

The 5K winner ran 18:30 while the median finisher took 54:21. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.

Where can I train for the 10th Annual WellnessWorks Sunrise 5K?

Join a local run club. Baptist Health Brickell Run Club, Baptist Health Kendall Run Club, Baptist Health Gables Run Club and others in Miami welcome runners of all paces, and a weekly group run is the most reliable way to hold a training block together.
