About the Run for Research 5K
This race is a fundraiser for Parkinson's research, held near Truist Park in Atlanta. The sock theme is the personality of it: participants show up in the loudest, tallest, most ridiculous socks they own, which gives the start area a visual energy that a plain charity run does not have. Free food, music, and vendors round out the post-race scene.
Packet pickup runs the day before at a local running store, with race-morning pickup available near the Chop House gate at the park. Several parking decks sit close to the vendor village, with a free window at the start of your stay; a surface lot farther out is free all day, though it adds a short walk to the action.

The Run for Research 5K has been held every year since at least 2013. That is as far back as RunSignup's records for this race go, so it may well be older.
How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Jul 27, 2026.
