About the 12th Annual HAFI W.E. Run 5K/10K

The race is held at Gordon White Park and benefits a nonprofit that funds scholarships for graduating seniors and runs youth programs in Atlanta. There is also a virtual option for runners who cannot be there in person, with a window of several days to complete the distance and submit a time.

The park is on Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard in southwest Atlanta. On-site registration opens the morning of the race, so you can show up and register rather than committing ahead of time.

Common Questions About the 12th Annual HAFI W.E. Run 5K/10K

Will I finish last at the 12th Annual HAFI W.E. Run 5K/10K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 45:27, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:25:57, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the 12th Annual HAFI W.E. Run 5K/10K a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (107 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the 12th Annual HAFI W.E. Run 5K/10K?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 26:15 while the median finisher took 45:27. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.

Where can I train for the 12th Annual HAFI W.E. Run 5K/10K?

Join a local run club. Atlanta Run Club, Atlanta Track Club, Chattahoochee Road Runners and others in Atlanta welcome runners of all paces, and a weekly group run is the most reliable way to hold a training block together.
