About the Purple Iron 5K
The Purple Iron 5K is organized by a local fraternity chapter with deep roots in Miami, and the race carries that weight visibly. It raises money for student scholarships and Alzheimer's awareness at once, so the crowd that shows up tends to be connected to one cause or the other, sometimes both.
The event runs rain or shine, so there is no sweating the forecast. Beyond that, the organizers keep things moving as a community gathering rather than a timed pursuit, which means the energy at the start line reflects the mission more than the clock.
