About the Magical Marvelous Memories 5k Run/Walk
This is a costume race built around superhero and fairy tale characters, so the start line looks nothing like a typical morning 5k. Runners and walkers show up in capes and crowns, and the atmosphere reflects that. The proceeds go to a nonprofit that funds experiences for families dealing with a parent's serious illness, which gives the morning a clear sense of purpose.
After the race there are yard games and a costume contest with prizes. It is worth knowing that the whole event is designed to welcome kids alongside adults, so expect strollers and small superheroes mixed into the crowd.
