About the Kaiser Permanente Run, Walk & Roll

The course runs through the Summerhill neighborhood just south of downtown Atlanta, and the event is built around corporate teams rather than solo runners. Wheelchair participants have their own wave, and walkers line up separately from runners, so the start area gets organized by pace before anyone moves. A portion of proceeds benefits the Atlanta Community Food Bank, among other charities.

Bib pickup happens at a local running store in the days before the event, with a second pickup window at the park on race morning. MARTA is the recommended way in, with a short walk from the Midtown station to the park. Teams with tents have a dedicated load-in window to get set up before the waves begin.

Common Questions About the Kaiser Permanente Run, Walk & Roll

Will I finish last at the Kaiser Permanente Run, Walk & Roll?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 56:08, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:21:27, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Kaiser Permanente Run, Walk & Roll a good first 3.1 Miles?

With 1,124 finishers there are runners at every pace, so you are never out on your own. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Kaiser Permanente Run, Walk & Roll?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 28:15 while the median finisher took 56:08. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.

Where can I train for the Kaiser Permanente Run, Walk & Roll?

Join a local run club. Atlanta Run Club, Atlanta Track Club, Chattahoochee Road Runners and others in Atlanta welcome runners of all paces, and a weekly group run is the most reliable way to hold a training block together.
