About the Howl-o-ween 5k - Orlando

The course goes out and back around Lake Baldwin, so runners pass each other heading in opposite directions. That built-in crossing point creates a natural moment to spot friends or cheer strangers on. The path has some uneven ground, so it is worth watching your footing, especially if you bring a dog on a leash.

Packet pickup happens at the start area on race morning, opening about an hour before the gun. Dogs do not need to register to join, just bring a leash. There are treats at the finish line for both the human and canine contingent.

Common Questions About the Howl-o-ween 5k - Orlando

Will I finish last at the Howl-o-ween 5k - Orlando?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 48:26, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:26:25, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Howl-o-ween 5k - Orlando a good first 5K?

A field of 274 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Howl-o-ween 5k - Orlando?

The 5K winner ran 20:26 while the median finisher took 48:26. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.

Where can I train for the Howl-o-ween 5k - Orlando?

Join a local run club. Orlando Runners Club, Home State Run Club, Park Brewing Run Club and others in Orlando welcome runners of all paces, and a weekly group run is the most reliable way to hold a training block together.
