About the Day of the Dead Half Marathon - Dallas

The course runs through parkland, with lush tree cover, open green space, and lakes along the way. The Day of the Dead theme shapes the whole morning: runners are encouraged to come in costume, and a pre-race costume contest with judges and a prize gets going before the first step is taken. It reads more like a parade than a time trial.

The post-race tent has a DJ calling out finishers by name and Mexican food and drinks on hand. Award winners get recognized in front of the crowd. There is some real energy to the finish scene.

Finish-Time Stats

Going by the 2025 results, this is a small, friendly field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

Common Questions About the Day of the Dead Half Marathon - Dallas

Will I finish last at the Day of the Dead Half Marathon - Dallas?

Almost certainly not. Half the 13.1 Miles field finished slower than 2:25:09, and the last recorded finisher came in around 3:50:10, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Day of the Dead Half Marathon - Dallas a good first 13.1 Miles?

A field of 201 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 13.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Day of the Dead Half Marathon - Dallas?

The 13.1 Miles winner ran 1:09:16 while the median finisher took 2:25:09. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.

Where can I train for the Day of the Dead Half Marathon - Dallas?

Join a local run club. 214 Run Club, Dallas Running Club, Run It Up Dallas and others in Dallas welcome runners of all paces, and a weekly group run is the most reliable way to hold a training block together.
