About the Be There! 5K

The course begins where visitors enter the fairgrounds, passes through Tamiami Park, then moves inside past rides, concession stands, and exhibits before finishing on the fairgrounds' main street. Running through an active fair setup gives it a different feel from a typical road race, with a lot to look at along the way.

Parking opens well before the start, and packet pickup begins early enough that there is no reason to rush. A group stretch runs just before the national anthem, both on the grounds. Proceeds support the fair's scholarship program for local youth.

Common Questions About the Be There! 5K

Will I finish last at the Be There! 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 38:20, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:10:25, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Be There! 5K a good first 5K?

With 863 finishers there are runners at every pace, so you are never out on your own. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Be There! 5K?

The 5K winner ran 18:04 while the median finisher took 38:20. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.

Where can I train for the Be There! 5K?

Join a local run club. Baptist Health Brickell Run Club, Baptist Health Kendall Run Club, Baptist Health Gables Run Club and others in Miami welcome runners of all paces, and a weekly group run is the most reliable way to hold a training block together.
