About This Club

West End Run Club is a weekly Friday morning social run that starts outside Call Your Mother Deli on New Hampshire Ave NW and covers a 3-mile loop through urban DC streets. No membership, no registration, no fee - you just show up at 6:45 am. The post-run coffee hang at the deli is a real part of the morning, and they say it often runs longer than the run itself.

Who It Suits

This suits you if you are somewhere in the 8:30 to 11:00 per mile range, or close to it, and want a consistent Friday morning run with a social payoff at the end. If you are training for a marathon and need structured speedwork or long runs well beyond 3 miles on a Friday, this is probably not your workout.

What a Run With Them Is Like

The route is 3 miles on city roads through the West End neighborhood. Pace ranges from 8:30 to 11:00 minutes per mile across the group, and there are no formal pace groups splitting people off. A co-leader runs up front and a designated caboose stays at the back, so no one is left running alone or dropped.

Your First Run

Show up at 6:45 am outside Call Your Mother Deli at 1143 New Hampshire Ave NW - that is the whole check-in process. You do not need to register ahead of time or tell anyone you are coming.

If you are worried about being slow, the caboose at the back of the group is there specifically so the pace at the rear does not mean you are on your own. After the run, people head into the deli for coffee, which is a low-pressure way to meet people without having to make conversation mid-mile.
