About This Club

Santa Mujeres Run Club is a Latina-led group in San Diego built specifically for women of color, meeting weekly in Balboa Park. It's set up around a 1-mile and a 5k option, with kids, pets, and strollers all part of the picture, not an afterthought. This one genuinely suits beginners and anyone who wants to run alongside other women of color in a space built for that.

  • Created by/for women of color
  • Safe space for BIWOC
  • Kid/pet/stroller friendly
  • Supportive buddies
  • Inclusive environment
  • Representation for women of color

Who It Suits

This suits women of color, beginners, and anyone looking for an inclusive, unhurried environment where walking is completely normal. It's not built for competitive racers chasing pace goals or PRs. If you want a group that runs from the back so nobody's left behind, this is designed for exactly that.

What a Run With Them Is Like

Runs happen on paved paths in Balboa Park, with a choice of 1 mile or 5k depending on what you're up for that day. The pace is set to include everyone, and the group leads from the back specifically so no one ends up running alone at the rear. There's a buddy system in place, so you're not just handed a route and left to it.

Your First Run

Meet at the carousel in Balboa Park, 1889 Zoo Pl, at 6pm on a Thursday. You don't need to join anything or pay first, it's free and there's no membership to sort out beforehand. Expect to be paired with a buddy, so showing up alone isn't something you need to think twice about. Bring your kid, your dog, or a stroller if that's part of your routine, all of it is expected here, not tolerated.
