About This Club

Running Mamis is a Latina-led, women-centered run crew based on the Eastside of Los Angeles that meets twice a month at Los Angeles State Historic Park. It was built specifically for mothers and women of color, and the range of distances and paces reflects that, from a short stroller-friendly loop to a full marathon training long run on the same morning.

What a Run With Them Is Like

They run on park paths and roads, and the distances on any given Saturday can range from 1 mile to 20 miles depending on where you are in your training. Pace is genuinely mixed, and they say walkers are welcome, including people who walk more than they run. Strollers are fine, so you do not have to find childcare to show up.

Your First Run

They meet at Los Angeles State Historic Park in Chinatown on Saturday mornings, with most people arriving around 8 a.m. even though the listed start is 7:45. No membership is required, so you can just show up.

The group is built around mothers and beginners, which means being slow or new is not a novelty here, it is the norm. They run at Griffith Park and the Rose Bowl area on some occasions, so check their Instagram before you head out to confirm the exact location that week.
