About This Club

DTLA Running is a free community run club based out of The Bloc in Downtown LA that has been meeting since 2008. They run Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings, with routes that change each week. If you live or work downtown and want a consistent group to run with, this is built around that exact situation.

Who It Suits

This works well for downtown LA runners who want options across the week and do not want to lock into a single pace group or pay a membership. If you are looking for a structured training program with coached workouts and specific pace targets, they do not describe themselves that way.

What a Run With Them Is Like

Routes are road-based through Downtown LA and vary in distance from 2 miles up to 13 miles, so there is a real range depending on the day and what you are up for.

On Sunday long runs, slower-pace runners get a head start at 7:00 AM, with the main group going at 8:00 AM - a practical setup that keeps people from feeling like they are holding anyone up. They say pace is accommodated for all running levels, so you are not expected to keep up with whoever is at the front.

Your First Run

Show up to The Bloc at 700 W 7th St - Tuesday or Thursday at 7:00 PM, or Sunday at 8:00 AM (7:00 AM if you are a slower-pace runner doing the long run). You do not need to register or pay anything.

Coming alone is normal for a club that has been open to all since 2008. After the run, the group does a post-run hangout somewhere nearby each week - drinks, cooling off, talking - so there is a built-in way to actually meet people rather than just running past them.
