About This Club

Golden Valley Harriers is a nonprofit running club based in Davis, CA, meeting up at Fleet Feet Davis for structured workouts three times a week. It's built for runners who want actual training, speed work, tempo, and longer runs, not just a casual jog, and it costs nothing to join. The club also supports local XC programs, so there's a community-training bent to it beyond just the weekly runs.

Who It Suits

This suits runners who want a real, structured training plan (speed, tempo, long runs) and don't mind that it's road, path, and track only. It's not set up for walkers, dogs, or strollers, and if you're looking for trail miles or a run-then-drink social scene, this isn't that club. It is a good fit if you want free, consistent group workouts without a membership commitment.

What a Run With Them Is Like

Runs happen Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, with distances ranging from 4 miles up to 7-10 miles depending on the day. Tuesday is speed work, Thursday has both a morning and evening option, and Saturday is the longer run. Everything is on road, path, or track, so leave the trail shoes at home. The pace is described as all paces welcome, and the speed workouts in particular are structured so slower runners aren't the ones left behind.

Your First Run

Meeting spots can shift depending on the day, so check the weekly email or the club's website before you head out rather than assuming it's always at the Fleet Feet Davis address. If you're coming for a Tuesday speed session, email Craighton ahead of time for the specifics on what that workout looks like.

If you're under 18, bring a parent or guardian. The speed workout format is genuinely built with beginners in mind, so showing up for that first rather than a long run might feel like the easier entry point.
