Dogtown Running Club
St. Louis, Missouri
Welcoming neighborhood social hub
About This Club
Dogtown Running Club is a free, no-membership running group based in the Dogtown neighborhood of St. Louis, started by Jaci Wilson. It runs three times a week out of Heavy Riff Brewing Company and also cohosts the Doggy Dash race, so it's tied into the neighborhood beyond just the weekly runs. It suits people looking for a low-barrier, social way to run near home, not a training squad chasing times.

Who It Suits
This fits beginners and mixed-ability runners who want a social, neighborhood-based routine with no cost and no sign-up hurdle. Dog owners are covered too. It's not built for elite racers chasing pace goals or for trail specialists, since the terrain here is road, track, and paved or gravel paths rather than technical trail.

What a Run With Them Is Like
Runs are all paces, with beginners and advanced runners in the same group, and distances range from 2 miles up to 7+ miles depending on the day. Terrain shifts across the week too: you'll find track, road, paved paths, and gravel paths, with locations including the SLU track, Heavy Riff Brewery, and Forest Park. After the run, people stick around at the brewery to socialize.
Your First Run
Show up outside Heavy Riff Brewing Company about 10 minutes before the start time. The club runs in groups so no one is left alone, which takes the edge off showing up solo.
If you're out at Forest Park, stay on the heels of the gravel path since footing there needs attention. Check the club's Instagram beforehand for any schedule updates, and know that they run rain or shine, so the Tuesday, Wednesday, or Saturday slot will be happening regardless of weather.

Common Questions About Dogtown Running Club
Will I hold everyone up if I'm slow?
The group runs all paces together and mixes beginners with more advanced runners, so there isn't one pace everyone is expected to hit.
Can I take walk breaks?
This isn't set up as a walk-friendly club, even though it welcomes beginners. If you need regular walk breaks, it may not match how the group runs.
Do I need to pay or join before showing up?
No. It's free and there's no membership required, you can just show up to a scheduled run.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes, the club is dog friendly.
What happens if the weather's bad?
They run rain or shine on a fixed schedule, so Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday runs go ahead regardless of weather.
Where this comes from: Club details come from each club’s own channels (their site, Meetup, Strava and social posts) and are checked by hand. Group runs move, so confirm the meeting spot on the club’s latest post before you head out. Last updated April 2026.
