About This Club

Coastal Run Club is a social running group based in Cardiff, meeting three times a week for runs along Hwy 101 in Cardiff and Leucadia. It's built for people who want to run and then actually talk to other humans over coffee, not chase a training plan. If you're new to running, new to town, or just want a low-pressure reason to get out three times a week, this is that.

  • Three weekly runs
  • Hwy 101 coastal paths
  • Welcoming social focus
  • Scenic coastal routes
  • Post-run social
  • Flexible distances

Who It Suits

This suits social runners and beginners who want a coastal setting and a coffee afterward more than a workout. It's not built for competitive racers or anyone doing serious long-distance training, the distances and open-pace structure aren't set up for that kind of mileage or intensity.

What a Run With Them Is Like

Distances run from short 3-4 mile out-and-backs up to about 5.5 miles, with open mileage on some days so you can adjust on the fly. It's all road and coastal path, flat enough that terrain isn't the challenge. Pace is explicitly all paces, with walk breaks built in and the option to turn around early if you're not feeling the full distance that day.

Your First Run

Show up at The Shanty at 126 Chesterfield Dr in Cardiff at the listed start time for whichever day you're coming, Wednesday evening, Friday early morning, or Sunday morning. There's no registration and no membership, you just show up, though it's worth checking their Instagram beforehand in case a specific run has an update, and you'll sign a waiver on their official site.

Bring some cash or a card for coffee after, since that's a regular part of the routine. Nobody's going to make you feel bad for taking walk breaks or turning around early, that's built into how the group runs.
