About This Club

Big River Running is a retail-store-hosted club out of St. Louis, with free weekly runs from the South City store (and also University City). It's built around year-round Monday night group runs plus seasonal Sunday long runs for marathon training and a trail-focused Unpaved program. It genuinely suits beginners, walkers, dog owners, stroller parents, and people training for a marathon rather than people chasing PRs.

Who It Suits

This works well if you're new to running, training for a marathon, walking some or all of your runs, or bringing a dog or stroller along. It's not built for competitive racers looking for a fast, ranked pace group, and it's not set up for unaccompanied minors.

What a Run With Them Is Like

Monday runs are 3-6 miles on road, all paces, with pacers provided so you're not just guessing what group to fall into. During Spring Training (Jan-Apr) and Fall Training (Jul-Oct), Sunday morning long runs build up toward marathon distance. The Unpaved program is the trail side of things, run seasonally and set up to be beginner-friendly rather than technical.

Your First Run

Show up at the South City store (5352 Devonshire Ave) at 5:45pm on a Monday. No signup, no membership, nothing to pay. Pacers are there specifically so you can find people running your speed, and walkers are explicitly welcome, so there's no version of this where you're the slow one holding up the group.

If you'd rather start with the Sunday long runs or the trail program, check the site for seasonal dates since those aren't running every week.
