About This Club

Almost Friday Run Club meets every Thursday at 7:00 AM at Curley Community Center in South Boston for a free, no-signup 3-mile run. They run at a conversational pace with walk breaks built in, and they say they welcome all paces. If you have been putting off joining a run group because you are worried about keeping up, this one is specifically set up for that.

Who It Suits

This works well if you are new to running, coming back after a break, or just want a manageable weekday morning run without any pressure around pace. If you are training hard and looking for speed work or long runs above 3 miles, this is not that group.

What a Run With Them Is Like

The route covers 3 miles on city streets, sidewalks, and waterfront paths around South Boston at roughly 9 to 9:30 minutes per mile. The pace is meant to be easy enough to hold a conversation, and walk breaks are part of the plan, not an exception. They are clear in their own messaging that they do not go fast.

Your First Run

Show up to Curley Community Center in South Boston at 7:00 AM on a Thursday - no registration, no fee, nothing to sign up for ahead of time. Coming alone is normal here; it is a community group and people turn up solo all the time.

The pace is genuinely easy, so being newer or slower is not going to leave you stranded. After the run, a lot of people head to Annie's Bakery and Cafe nearby for coffee, which is a low-pressure way to actually meet people.
