About the TPA's 5K on the Runway
The course runs on an active airport runway, which is about as unusual as road racing gets. The surface is wide and open, with the kind of unobstructed sightlines you rarely see on a city course. There are no turns through neighborhoods, no dodging curbs, just a long flat stretch of tarmac under open sky.
Food from an airport restaurant is set up at the finish. Parking is free. Bib pickup runs in the days before the race, with a brief window on race morning as a backup. No strollers are allowed on the course, and children need to complete it on their own.
