About the Time and a Half Relay & 5K
The course runs along Chicago's lakefront, starting and finishing at Steelworkers Park on the Southeast Side. The surrounding area has deep roots in American steel production, and the race is built around that history. It is a course with a sense of place, not just a loop through a generic park.
The park sits next to a large development site, so the start area has an industrial character to it. The event is organized by a local nonprofit rooted in the South Chicago neighborhood, which shapes the feel of the morning. This is not a downtown race; it draws from a community with its own distinct identity.
