About the Dim Sum & Then Some: The Uptown 5K/10K & Kids Dash
The race starts in Uptown with a traditional Lao blessing ceremony, a string tied around each runner's wrist for good luck, then lion dancers send the field off. The course passes through the neighborhood's historic streets and out along the lakefront before looping back. It raises money for an organization that serves immigrant and refugee communities.
Packet pickup runs at two locations in the days before the race, and race-morning pickup is available for an added fee. After finishing, there is a block party with dim sum, bubble tea, and youth cultural dance performances on the street.

The Dim Sum & Then Some: The Uptown 5K/10K & Kids Dash has been held every year since at least 2021. That is as far back as RunSignup's records for this race go, so it may well be older.
How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Jul 27, 2026.
