About the REaDy to Run 5K Run/Walk

The course is mostly flat with a few gentle slopes mixed in, and it qualifies for the AJC Peachtree Road Race, so some runners treat it as a tune-up. Note that neither strollers nor pets are allowed out there. Chip timing is used, and results post shortly after you finish.

Packet pickup runs on the two evenings before race day at a pair of local running stores, one in the Smyrna area and one in the Marietta area. If you miss those windows, pickup is available on race morning.

Common Questions About the REaDy to Run 5K Run/Walk

Will I finish last at the REaDy to Run 5K Run/Walk?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 46:11, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:27:56, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the REaDy to Run 5K Run/Walk a good first 3.1 Miles?

A field of 419 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the REaDy to Run 5K Run/Walk?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 18:29 while the median finisher took 46:11. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.

Where can I train for the REaDy to Run 5K Run/Walk?

Join a local run club. Atlanta Run Club, Atlanta Track Club, Chattahoochee Road Runners and others in Atlanta welcome runners of all paces, and a weekly group run is the most reliable way to hold a training block together.
