About the ORRC Turkey Trot at The Zoo

The course starts near the MAX station outside the zoo, heads out toward the International Rose Garden on an out-and-back road route, and finishes inside the zoo at the Elephant Plaza. It is untimed and unhilly. Kids races follow the main run at the same plaza, so families tend to stick around. The zoo is closed to the public that morning, so entry requires a bib.

Bib pickup runs at a couple of local running stores in the days before Thanksgiving, with an option at the zoo itself midweek. Race-morning pickup opens early inside the zoo's Cascade Crest Ballroom. Parking near the zoo fills fast, and the organizers strongly encourage taking the MAX light rail. The course has no water stops, so bring your own. Fruit, donuts, and chocolate turkeys are at the finish.
