About the Mutt Run
This is a Halloween-themed run in San Diego where dogs are very much part of the event. Costumes are encouraged, for both runners and their pets, and plenty of people show up dressed up. The course is a run or walk, untimed and meant for all paces, with the fundraising mission for a local dog rescue organization as the real reason everyone is there.
There is a beer garden at the finish. The event benefits a rescue group that takes in dogs from overcrowded shelters and cares for them at a dedicated facility until they find permanent homes, so the post-race atmosphere tends to feel less like a race finish and more like a dog adoption event mixed with a block party.
