About the Miles for Smiles 5k
The course runs through Lake Park, starting and finishing at the Summer Stage. It is a park setting, so expect paths rather than open roads, with trees and lake views nearby. The race benefits cleft lip and palate care at a children's hospital and a dental school, so the crowd tends to reflect that mission, students, families, and medical volunteers mixed together at the start.
Packet pickup the evening before is at a recreation center on the Marquette University campus, with race-morning pickup available at the start line. Parking is right near the Summer Stage, with overflow street parking a short walk away throughout the park and surrounding neighborhood. After the race, a post-race social at a nearby bar includes discounted drinks during a dedicated happy hour.
