About the Miles for Moffitt

The course starts on Morgan Street and finishes on Channelside Drive just outside the arena, running through downtown Tampa. The route serves several distance options, from a short kids dash up to longer runs, so the field is wide and the pace range is broad. Wheelchair racers are part of the official lineup, not an afterthought.

Packet pickup happens at a couple of locations in the days before the race, including a stop at a sporting goods store, with a race-morning option at the start area for those who cannot make it earlier. Parking lots nearby have partnered with the event, and fees collected there go toward cancer research funding.

Common Questions About the Miles for Moffitt

Will I finish last at the Miles for Moffitt?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 1:04:01, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:37:36, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Miles for Moffitt a good first 3.1 Miles?

With 3,000 finishers there are runners at every pace, so you are never out on your own. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Miles for Moffitt?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 16:27 while the median finisher took 1:04:01. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.

Where can I train for the Miles for Moffitt?

Join a local run club. Run Tampa, Run the Heights, Run Club for MFs That Don't Run and others in Tampa welcome runners of all paces, and a weekly group run is the most reliable way to hold a training block together.
