About the Heartbreak Chicago Mob Mile

This is a track mile put on by Heartbreak, run in heats with a full field so there is real energy in each wave. It draws people mid marathon buildup, people specifically chasing a mile time, and people who just want a fast evening on the track. It is held at Chicago Hope Academy on the west side.

The race runs in the early evening, which keeps the heat manageable and gives the whole thing a charged atmosphere. Awards cover a broad spread of heats, so competition is not just at the front. Custom bibs and timing are part of the setup, and a training package is available in the weeks leading up to race day.

Common Questions About the Heartbreak Chicago Mob Mile

Will I finish last at the Heartbreak Chicago Mob Mile?

Almost certainly not. Half the 1 Miles field finished slower than 6:01, and the last recorded finisher came in around 13:00, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Heartbreak Chicago Mob Mile a good first 1 Miles?

A field of 241 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Heartbreak Chicago Mob Mile?

The 1 Miles winner ran 4:21 while the median finisher took 6:01. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.

Where can I train for the Heartbreak Chicago Mob Mile?

Join a local run club. CARA Run Crew, Second City Track Club, Venados Running Club and others in Chicago welcome runners of all paces, and a weekly group run is the most reliable way to hold a training block together.
